Sync settings

This function is only available for the Advanced plan.
For the Standard plan, you can use this function by applying for and using the Drive option.

Sync is a function that connects a folder on your PC with a folder in LINE WORKS Drive to update the changes on the PC web, mobile app, or Drive Explorer in real time to the folders on your PC.

For macOS Catalina 10.15 version, you can select a folder from 'My Drive(Personal Folder)' and 'Shared with me' to sync with folders on your PC. Up to 3 PCs are supported.

Sync function is not available for data restricted by the Drive policy such as file formats restricted by the administrator, malicious codes, and folders with names in special characters. Sync function is not available in the following cases as well.

  • Sync with a removable storage device
  • Sync with a virtual drive

Sync Settings

If you use macOS Catalina 10.15, you can select a folder from 'My Drive' and 'Folders shared with me' to sync with the PC folder.

When you select the PC folder to update the data of LINE WORKS, the LINE WORKS Drive folder is created under the folder and the sync process begins.

When sync process is complete, the file/folder is marked with the icon. Sync will not proceed when you are logged out.

Sync is not available for data stored in Shared Drive or Team/Group Folder. However, you can access them through the following paths.

  • Finder > Favorites > LINE WORKS Drive

macOS

  1. Run the Drive Explorer.
  2. Log into LINE WORKS Drive.
  3. Click the Drive Explorer  icon on the menu bar.
  4. Click 'Sync Settings'.
  5. Click the tab with the folder to sync from 'My Drive' or 'Shared folder'.
  6. Click on the left of the folder to sync to select.
    Click  of the 'Folder location', select the PC folder to sync, and then click 'OK'.
  7. Click  on the left of the folder to sync.
    To change the My PC folder to sync, click 'Change' of 'Sync Folder Location' and select the PC folder.
  8. Under the 'Sync Setting' tab, click 'Apply'.

Turn off sync per folder

You can exclude infrequently used folders from syncing.

You can turn off sync to free up space on your PC and reduce sync time.

When sync is turned off, online-only folders and files are no longer visible on the PC, and local-only or temporary local-only folders and files are moved to the PC Trash.

To avoid deleting files, check the auto-delete file setting for PC Trash before unsyncing.

Even when sync is turned off, you can check folders and files in the LINE WORKS PC web and mobile app Drive.

macOS

  1. Open the Drive Explorer.
  2. Log into LINE WORKS Drive.
  3. Click the Drive Explorer  icon on the top menu bar.
  4. Click 'Preferences'.
  5. Click the 'Sync Settings' tab.
  6. Click  on the left to the sync target folder.
  7. Click 'Apply' on the bottom.

Pause sync

You can pause the sync function to temporarily stop real-time updates of the files. You must click 'Resume synchronization' after making changes to the files in order to keep the files up to date.

macOS

  1. Click the Drive Explorer  icon on the menu bar.
  2. Click 'Pause synchronization'.

Check sync status

Check the sync status of Drive Explorer. You can also check if any files failed to sync.

You can check the sync status from the Drive Explorer icon on the menu bar.

Sync folder has been changed or deleted

Check status by clicking the Drive Explorer icon

Click the icon on the top menu bar to check further information on the sync status.

  • Checking sync list
  • Synchronizing (the number of files that have been synced/the total number of files)
  • Synchronized
  • Drive sync is turned off.

Check files that failed to sync

If there are files or folders that failed to sync, a message will appear: 'There are items that failed to synchronize'.

You can check the failed items by clicking 'View items' on the message or 'Failure items' on the Explorer’s system tray.
