Third-party app password

You can use the third-party app password to log in to third-party apps such as CalDAV, IMAP, SMTP, POP3, etc. with your LINE WORKS account.

The third-party app password is generated by a random combination of alphabets and numbers. You can safely protect your LINE WORKS account if you log in to the third-party app with the third-party app password.

However, domains created after October 13, 2022 can only log in to a third-party app with a third-party app password to prevent LINE WORKS account hijacking.

For domains created before October 13, 2022, members can choose whether to use a third-party app password.

Enable third-party app passwords

Members can choose whether or not to use a third-party app password only for domains created before October 13, 2022.

If you enable a third-party app password, you can log in to third-party apps only with the app password from the next login.

If you change whether to use a third-party app password, you may be logged out of a third-party app that you have previously logged in to.

PC Web

  1. Click your profile picture on the top right.
  2. Select 'Security' from the menu.
  3. Turn on the 'Use a third-party app password' setting.

Create a third-party password

To use a third-party app password, you must create a password to log in to the third-party app.

PC Web

  1. Click your profile picture on the top right.
  2. Select 'Security' from the menu.
  3. Click 'Create a third-party app password'.
  4. Click 'Create new password'.
  5. Enter the name of the third-party app you want to log in to and click 'Create password'.
  6. Copy the generated password and enter it in the password input field of the third-party app to log in.

You can create up to 5 third-party app passwords.

Once you create a password, you can use it multiple times. However, we recommend that you do not reuse it to prevent account hijacking.

You will be notified by message when you create a third-party app password. If it is not a third-party app password you created yourself, we recommend that you delete the password that was created immediately and change the LINE WORKS password.

Delete a third-party app password

If you are no longer using a third-party password, or if you suspect account hijacking, you should delete your third-party app password.

PC Web

  1. Click your profile picture on the top right.
  2. Select 'Security' from the menu.
  3. Click 'Create a third-party app password'.
  4. Click 'Delete' in the 'Manage' section of the third-party app password you want to delete.
