POP3/IMAP

You can exchange emails by setting up POP3/SMTP or IMAP/SMTP in any of your email clients.
Only the administrator can disable this function.

Difference between IMAP and POP3

IMAP is different from POP3 as the following:

  • It supports mailboxes including your personal mailboxes in the form of folders.
If you set up POP3 in any email client, you cannot export emails in Sent Mail, Spam Mail, and Trash.
However, IMAP supports Sent Mail, Spam Mail, and Trash in the form of folders in email clients of the smartphones, etc.
  • The mailboxes of the server and the email client are synced with each other to match the contents.
For the email clients set up with IMAP in smartphones and other devices, the change history and the emails deleted, copied, or moved will apply the same in LINE WORKS Mail.
Also, you can access the same email account via multiple email clients at the same time. Changes made in one email client will also be reflected in other clients (for the performance and quality of the clients, the number of clients that can be connected simultaneously may be limited).
  • You can read part of the email in advance.
When an email client using IMAP receives an email, it is possible to retrieve and preview the beginning and part of the email. Unlike POP3, IMAP is more suitable for mobile environments such as smartphones, as you can determine whether to read the entire email after checking the preview of the email. You can use the IMAP service of Mail after setting it in Mail Settings and the email client of your choice on your smartphone.
  • IMAP is intended for mobile phones and may not work properly in the email clients designed for PC.
