General Message Room

CONTENTS

General Message Room is a type of message room where you can invite anyone to have a conversation. You can have 1:1 or group conversations and freely invite people to the message room or remove them from the message room.

In a message room where multiple people chat, you can collaborate using Note, Event, Task, and Folder.

Mailing List (Only available for the Advanced plan) and Group privacy settings are only available for Team Message Rooms and Group Message Rooms.

For Team/Group Message Rooms, that are not General Message Rooms,  is displayed at the bottom right of the representative picture of the message room shown in the message room list.

Create a General Message Room

You can create a 1:1 or group message room via contact search results or the organizational chart.

If you select multiple members and create a message room, message room where the same member has already joined will be recommended.

When you select an existing message room, you can continue the conversation without creating another similar message room.

Mobile

  1. Tap   in Message.
  2. Select between 'Company Members' and 'External Users'.
  3. Select a person you want to start a conversation with by searching the name, or selecting the person from the organizational chart.
  4. Tap 'Confirm'.
    If there is a message room where the selected members have already joined, select an existing message room from the 'Participating message rooms' list or tap 'Create New Message Room'.
  5. You can name, select a photo, and write a description for the new message rooms with multiple participants. After confirming the basic information, tap 'Create' to start the conversation.

PC Web

  1. Click  on the top.
  2. Click 'Create new' on the top of the message room list.
  3. Select between 'Company Members' and 'External Users'.
  4. Select a person you want to start a conversation with by searching the name, or selecting the person from the organizational chart.
  5. Click ‘OK’.
    If there is a message room where the selected members have already joined, click 'Open' on the right side of the existing message room in the 'Message room with participating members' list or click 'Create New Message Room'.
  6. You can name, select a photo, and write a description for the new message rooms with multiple participants. After confirming the basic information, tap 'Create' to start the conversation.

PC App

  1. Click  at the top left of the message room list.
  2. Click  at the bottom of the message room list.
  3. Select between 'Company Members' and 'External Users'.
  4. Select a person you want to start a conversation with by searching the name, or selecting the person from the organizational chart.
  5. Click ‘OK’.
    If there is a message room where the selected members have already joined, click 'Open' on the right side of the existing message room in the 'Participating message rooms' list or click 'New Message Room'.
  6. You can name, select a photo, and write a description for the new message rooms with multiple participants. After confirming the basic information, tap 'Create' to start the conversation.

Create a message room with selected friends

You can also create a message room directly if you already have a person to chat with.

  • Create a 1:1 message room in Profile
  • Create a 1:1 message room in Contacts
  • Create a message room with Participants in Event
  • Create a message room with Email Recipients
  • Create a message room with existing message rooms

Create a 1:1 message room in profile

You can create a 1:1 message room in the profile that appears when you press a user’s name or the profile picture throughout the services, including Contacts, Message, Mail, Event, Board, and Drive.

Mobile

  1. Tap a user’s name or the profile picture.
  2. Tap 'Message' in the profile to create a 1:1 message room.

PC Web

  1. Click a user's name or the profile picture.
  2. Click 'Message' in the profile to create a 1:1 message room.

PC App

  1. Click a user's name or the profile picture.
  2. Click  in the profile to create a 1:1 message room.

Create a 1:1 message room in Contacts

You can find a contact from Contacts to create a 1:1 message room.

Mobile

  1. Tap 'Home' on the bottom.
  2. Tap 'Contacts'.
  3. Search a person in the organizational chart or with their contact, and tap the profile.
  4. Tap 'Message' to create a message room.

PC Web

  1. Click  on the top.
  2. Search a person in the organizational chart or with their contact, and click the name.
  3. Click 'Message' in the profile to create a message room.

PC App

  1. Click  at the top left of the message room list.
  2. Search a person in the organizational chart or with their contact, and click the profile picture.
  3. Click the Message icon to create a message room.

Create a message room in members list

You can create a message room directly in the members list.

PC App

  1. Click  at the top left of the screen.
  2. Select a member you want to send a message to in the search bar. Double-click or right-click the member and click 'Send message'.

Create a message room with event participants

You can create message rooms for participants of a meeting directly in Event.

The event title will be the title of the message room.

Mobile

  1. In Calendar, open an event that involves participants that you want to create a message room with.
  2. Tap 'Message All' in Event.
  3. Select the members you want to invite to the message room and tap 'Confirm'.
    If there is a message room where the selected members have already joined, select an existing message room from the 'Participating message rooms’ list or tap 'Create New Message Room'.

PC Web

  1. Click  on the top.
  2. Click the event that involves participants that you want to create a message room with.
  3. Click 'Message' found on the right side of the participant in 'Attendee'.
  4. Select the members you want to invite to the message room and click 'OK'.
    If there is a message room where the selected members have already joined, click 'Open' on the right side of the existing message room in the 'Message room with participating members' list or click 'Create New Message Room'.

PC App

  1. Click  at the bottom left of the screen.
  2. Go to the Calendar in the PC web.
  3. Click the event that involves participants that you want to create a message room with.
  4. Click 'Message' found on the right side of the participant in 'Attendee'.
  5. Select the members you want to invite to the message room and click 'Confirm'.
    If there is a message room where the selected members have already joined, click 'Open' on the right side of the existing message room in the 'Message room with participating members' list or click 'Create New Message Room'.

Create a message room with email senders and recipients

You can create a message room with senders and recipients of an email.

The email’s subject will be the title of the message room.

Mobile

  1. Tap the email in which the person you want to have a conversation with is either the sender or recipient.
  2. Tap 'Message All'.
  3. Select the members you want to invite to the message room and tap 'Confirm'.
    If there is a message room where the selected members have already joined, select an existing message room from the 'Participating message rooms’ list or tap 'Create New Message Room'.

  1. Click  on the top.
  2. Click the email in which the person you want to have a conversation with is either the sender or recipient.
  3. Click 'Message' found on the right side of the email address of the sender.
  4. Select the members you want to invite to the message room and click 'OK'.
    If there is a message room where the selected members have already joined, click 'Open' on the right side of the existing message room in the 'Message room with participating members' list or click 'Create New Message Room'.

PC App

  1. Click  at the bottom left of the screen.
  2. Move to the Mail in the PC web.
  3. Click the email in which the person you want to have a conversation with is either the sender or recipient.
  4. Click 'Message' found on the right side of the email address of the sender.
  5. Select the members you want to invite to the message room and click 'OK'.
    If there is a message room where the selected members have already joined, click 'Open' on the right side of the existing message room in the 'Message room with participating members' list or click 'Create New Message Room'.

Create a message room with existing message rooms

You can create a new message room by selecting members in the existing message room. You can further choose to add members.

Not available for Message to me, 1:1 message room, and a message room with external contacts.

Mobile

  1. Tap 'Message' on the bottom.
  2. In the message room list, tap the message room with the members you want to include in the new message room.
  3. Tap    on the top right.
  4. Tap 'New Message Room'.
  5. Select the members to include.
    To add members who are not in the existing message room, enter member information on 'Search contact'.
  6. Check the selected members and then tap 'Confirm'.
    If there is a message room where the selected members have already joined, select an existing message room from the 'Participating message rooms’ list or tap 'Create New Message Room'.

PC Web

  1. Click  on the top.
  2. In the message room list, Click the message room with the members you want to include in the new message room.
  3. Click  on the top right.
  4. Click 'Create New Message Room'.
  5. Select the members to include.
    To add members who are not in the existing message room, enter member information on 'Search with name, team, email'.
  6. Check the selected members and click 'OK'.
    If there is a message room where the selected members have already joined, click 'Open' on the right side of the existing message room in the 'Message room with participating members' list or click 'Create New Message Room'.

PC App

  1. Click   on the top left.
  2. In the message room list, Click the message room with the members you want to include in the new message room.
  3. Click  on the top right.
  4. Click 'New Message Room'.
  5. Select the members to include.
    To add members who are not in the existing message room, enter member information on 'Search contact'.
  6. Check the selected members and click 'OK'.
    If there is a message room where the selected members have already joined, click 'Open' on the right side of the existing message room in the 'Participating message rooms' list or click 'Create New Message Room'.

Invite a member to a message room

You can invite additional members to an existing message room.

Mobile

  1. Tap    in a message room.
  2. Tap 'Invite'.
  3. Select members you want to invite.
  4. Tap 'Confirm'.

PC Web

  1. Click  on the top.
  2. Click a message room from the message room list.
  3. Click  at the top right of the message room list.
  4. Click 'Invite'.
  5. Select members you want to invite.
  6. Click 'Invite'.

PC App

  1. Click  at the top left of the message room list.
  2. Click a message room from the message room list.
  3. Clickat the top right of the message room list.
  4. Click 'Invite'.
  5. Select members you want to invite.
  6. Click 'Invite'.

Remove members from a message room

You can remove members who were invited to the message room by mistake, or members who no longer need to participate in the conversation.

Removed members will receive a service notification stating that they have been excluded from the message room.

Mobile

  1. Tap on the top right of the message room.
  2. Tap 'Member(s) in conversation'.
  3. Tap and then ‘Remove’.
  4. Select the members you want to remove, then tap  at the bottom and then 'Remove'.

PC Web

  1. Click  on the top.
  2. Click a message room from the message room list.
  3. Click your profile picture at the top of the message room.
  4. Hover over the member you want to remove and click the 'x' icon on the right.
  5. Click 'Remove'.

PC App

  1. Click  at the top left of the screen.
  2. Click a message room from the message room list.
  3. Click the room name or profile picture at the top of the message room.
  4. Hover over the member you want to remove and click the 'x' icon on the right.
  5. Click 'Remove'.

Leave a General Message Room

You can leave a 1:1 message room or Group Message Room.

Once you leave a message room, you can no longer see the conversation shared in the message room. The members remaining in the message room can continue using the message room even after the creator of the message room leaves.

Leave a General Message Room from inside

You can leave a General Message Room on your own.

Mobile

  1. Tap    in the message room you want to leave.
  2. Tap 'Leave' and then tap 'Confirm' to leave the message room.

PC Web

  1. Click  on the top.
  2. Click the message room you want to leave from the message room list.
  3. Click    at the top right of the message room.
  4. Click 'Leave'.

PC App

  1. Click  at the top left of the screen.
  2. Click the message room you want to leave from the message room list.
  3. Clickat the top right of the message room.
  4. Click 'Leave'.

Leave a General Message Room from the list

You can leave a message room directly from the message room list.

Mobile

  1. Swipe left on the message room you want to leave from the message room list.
  2. Tap 'Leave'.
  3. Tap 'Confirm' on the dialogue box.

You can also tap and hold one message room and then select multiple message rooms to leave at once.

PC Web

  1. Click  on the top.
  2. Hover the mouse over the message room you want to leave, and click .
  3. Click 'Leave'.
  4. If there is more than one message room you want to leave, select together and click 'Leave'.

PC App

  1. Click  on the left side of the screen.
  2. Right-click the message room you want to leave from the message room list.
  3. Click 'Leave'.
  4. If there is more than one message room you want to leave, select together and click 'Leave'.
